Media@work-community:
A. Media production and reception processes
-Media content creation: event capture (journalism, citizen journalism, community originated content creation) and metadata (annotation tools for metadata) -Media content management (systems view) -Media product generation and business models (mass customisation, personalization, new types of ambiently intelligent media, new types of integrations of situations and media: media for work) -Media reception and use: media processing (emotion, cognition, attention) in contexts (mobile contexts, ambient intelligent contexts, work contexts etc.) by different types of individuals (psychological differences in media processing; values, attitudes, cultures); use of media for mood management
B. Methods for studying media content: end-to-end method toolbox for Living Labs
-Conceptualization, scenarios and early prototyping of new types of media products -Laboratory-studies with prototypes and media processing: psychophysiology of emotion and attention; visual processing and eye-tracking; self-report: questionnaires and interviews of user experience (presence, learning, flow, persuasion etc.) -Field-based trials on media use: Living labs: testing prototypes in actual use situations, modelling contexts and use-situations; using quasi-experimentation, observation, questionnaires, interviews, mobile psychophysiology etc.
C. Integration of media into working environments and work
-Process view: integration of work processes/tasks and external/internal media information flows in organizations -Contextual view: Everyday learning from media content, arousal/mood management with media at work -Technical view: Smart spaces and ambient intelligence: immersive displays of media flows, tactile media objects, ambient displays of media information flows
[edit] Objectives for workshop/community participation
Media@work community: -Help in finding a vision and roadmap for media at work community -Establishing initial network of key players,??collaborators and parties interested in the network in academia and industry -Later on work with the community to facilitate research and information exchange on the issues related to media at work
[edit] Initial vision regarding what/how should the AMI@Work family help to create in Europe by 2010
Media@work community:
-General view: Media content becomes a distributed and flexible object to be fitted and molded into various new kinds of uses, contexts of use and technologies -Media product differentation becomes increasingly possible with content management technologies: personalization, mass customisation, integration into working processes and environments; integration into certain contexts, integration into specific events (conferences, sports events etc.) -Product differentiation controlled by users of media and/or producers of media (individuals or organizations) -Media content generation (event capture) becomes partly distributed (citizen journalism, semi-professional journalists, community generated content) in addition to being centralized (professional media companies: SME´s and large media companies) -Media information flows spread outside traditional channels (such as newspapers and tv) into internet, mobile devices, pda´s, environments/contexts, large displays, ambient displays, tactile/direct manipulation displays -Media information flows are an important part of working processes in various professions (knowledge work orientation) -Europe 2010 will be created based on these emerging trends; helping citizens and knowledge-workers interact with media products more naturally and easily; making media products more functional and more flexible to various user/group/community needs
