[edit] Living Labs in regional innovation ecosystem (CO-LLABS)
7 October 2008, 16:45-18:30, Brussels (EC, Centre Borschette CCAB 1C)
Workshop code: 07A24
Workshop title: Living Labs in regional innovation ecosystem: European Network of Living Labs to access the regional innovation capacity in Europe (CO-LLABS thematic network)
Chair: Peltomäki, Antti Ilmari
Organiser: European Commission, DG INFSO
Theme: Theme A - Innovating regions: Promoting research, technological development and innovation
The aim of this workshop is to illustrate the relevance of Living Labs and the European Network of Living Labs to the regional innovation ecosystem. The CO-LLABS Thematic Network project aims precisely to achieve a European-wide adoption of ICT-based Living lab services and practices, and to allow SMEs to improve their innovation capabilities and processes and become part of ‘open innovation’ environments. To that end, the CO-LLABS Thematic Network brings together a selection of Europe’s most advanced Living Labs on the one hand, and regional SME innovation-oriented organisations on the other, to exchange practices on LL support services and identify and develop specific pilots in domains such as eHealth, eBusiness and eInclusion. The work will be grounded in a thorough understanding of current Living Labs practices and experiences, and strengthened by creating better insight into successful business models for future SME-oriented Living Labs. The Thematic Network will support interaction with policy-makers at regional, national and European level to establish consensus on the Living Labs approach as a cornerstone of European innovation policies, in particular at the regional and cross-regional level. Participants from this project will share their views, based on their experience in their home regional Living Lab, and extrapolate this to a wider European context.
