CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS

Innovative Knowledge Management: Concepts for Organizational Creativity and Collaborative Design.

A book edited by Lorna Uden and Alan Eardley, Staffordshire University, U.K.

The concept of knowledge management and the capture and use of knowledge in a variety of organisations are topics that have been explored in a number of recent publications. Much of this recent work is theoretical or generic in its approach and applies to the process of knowledge management, rather than its application. This proposal is for a book that explores a specific application of knowledge management – the exploitation of knowledge in support of innovation and change. The call is for chapters from academics and practitioners that describe and comment on some aspect of the relationship between knowledge management and innovation. Case studies of the application of knowledge management to innovation in organisations of all types are encouraged.

Proposed themes of the contributions include, but are not restricted to:

  • Innovation in terms of products and services through knowledge management and its impact on economy and society, particularly illustrations of the role of knowledge management technology;
  • Collaborative design, creativity and innovation involving shared knowledge within ‘communities of practice’.
  • Knowledge management practices that foster and encourage innovation and/or creativity in a variety of organisations and contexts;
  • Knowledge sharing in innovative/creative applications and organisations;
  • Knowledge management implementations;
  • Learning organisations, organisational learning and knowledge-intensive communities of practice in innovative settings;
  • Examples and case-studies of innovation and techno–entrepreneurship through knowledge management in a variety of public and private sector organisations;
  • Innovative knowledge management applications in healthcare and in e-government, e-business and e-commerce;
  • Knowledge management and innovation in relation to strategy and leadership.
